Also Saturday, Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom extended his lead in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors.

Player of the Day—Gibson struck out 10 over seven scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk, in the 8-0 win over the Royals.

Gibson earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 6.7 for the season, 33rd among all players and ninth among American League pitchers.

National League Player of the Day—Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias struck out 12 over 5 1/3 innings, allowing two runs, five hits and one walk, in the 3-2 win over the Cubs. Urias did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the game was tied, 2-2, when he exited.

deGrom (6IP 3H 2R BB 5K ND in the 4-3 win over the Phillies) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 14.7 for the season, ahead of second-place player, Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole (13.4). deGrom ranks ahead of second-place NL pitcher Brandon Woodruff of the Brewers (12.4).
