Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom is Box-Toppers Player of the Day in Tuesday’s spring training games.

deGrom struck out five over two scoreless innings, allowing one hit and no walks, in the 2-0 win over the Astros. deGrom did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the game was in a scoreless tie when he exited.

deGrom would have earned 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day if if this were a regular season game. Because it’s a preseason exhibition game, no Box-Toppers points are awarded.

American League Batter of the Day—Yu Chang of the Guardians doubled and went 2-for-2, scoring twice and driving in two runs, in the 6-1 win over the Padres.

Chang earned 1.0 Box-Toppers point in 2021 with Cleveland, his only career point, on Aug. 25.
