Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom is Wednesday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.
Also Wednesday, Padres pitcher Joe Musgrove rises to sixth place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors.
Player of the Day—deGrom struck out nine over seven innings, allowing one run, three hits and one walk, in the 2-1 win over the Dodgers.
deGrom earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 6.7 for the season, 83rd among all players and 32nd among National League pitchers.
deGrom has earned Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors in all four Mets wins in which he has pitched this season. deGrom has made six starts this season and did not make his first start until Aug. 2, because he was out with injuries.

National League Batter of the Day—Lars Nootbaar of the Cardinals homered and went 1-for-1, scoring once and driving in two runs, in the 5-3, 13-inning win over the Reds.
Rankings—Padres pitcher Joe Musgrove rises from 10th to sixth place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors Wednesday.
Musgrove (6.2IP 3H 3R 2BB 11K W in the 5-4 win over the Giants) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 15.4 for the season. He ranks third among NL pitchers, behind Sandy Alcantara of the Marlins (18.1) and Julio Urias of the Dodgers (16.4).
