Rangers pitcher Jon Gray is Box-Toppers Player of the Game in Monday’s World Series Game 3.
The Texas Rangers win 3-1 to lead the best-of-seven game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks, 2-1.
Gray struck out three over three scoreless innings of middle relief, allowing one hit and no walks.
Gray earned 7.7 Box-Toppers points in 2023, 80th among all players, 42nd among American League pitchers and sixth among all Rangers pitchers. It is his first Player of the Game honor of the 2023 postseason. However, Gray also had the highest Box-Toppers game score among all Rangers players in the World Series Game 1 win over the Diamondbacks (+4.2), but did not qualify to be considered for Player of the Game because he did not pitch at least three innings or earn the win or save (1.2IP H 0R 0BB 4K ND). (Jose Leclerc was Game 1 Player of the Game with a +4.2 game score.)

That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day. (No Box-Toppers points are awarded in postseason games.)
