Dodgers pitcher Walker Buehler is Box-Toppers Player of the Game in Wednesday’s National League Championship Series Game 3.
NL Championship Series Game 3: Dodgers 8, Mets 0
Buehler struck out six over four scoreless innings, allowing three hits and two walks.
Buehler did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because he did not pitch the required five innings to earn the win. Buehler exited with the Dodgers leading 2-0 after 90 pitches over four innings.
The Los Angeles Dodgers take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven game series over the New York Mets.
Buehler earned 1.7 Box-Toppers points in 2024, 524th overall and 149th among NL pitchers. Buehler, 30, was limited to 16 starts in 2024 after missing much of 2022 and all of 2023 recovering from Tommy John surgery. His time was also limited in 2024 due to a hip injury. In 2021, he had 16.7 Box-Toppers points with the Dodgers, 10th among all players and eighth among NL pitchers.
This was just his second Box-Toppers Player of the Game honor of 2024. The only time he did it in the regular season was May 18, when he was also NL Player of the Day. That was his first Player of the Game honor in more than two years as he battled injury.
Buehler had a +5.0 Box-Toppers game score Wednesday, best among Dodgers players. Dodgers top batter Wednesday was infielder Max Muncy with a +3.0 Box-Toppers game score (HR 2-2 2R BI). Reliever Michael Kopech, who earned the win for the Dodgers, had a +2.0 game score (1IP 0H 0R 0BB K W).
Mets starting pitcher Luis Severino had a -1.8 Box-Toppers game score (4.2IP 3H 2R 0ER 4BB 3K L). Mets reliever Tylor Megill had the game’s lowest game score of -10.0 (3IP 5H 4R 3BB 3K ND).
