The American League and National League All-Star teams are composed of the players with the highest Box-Toppers point totals by position in each league. In addition to nine batters in each league are the top four starting pitchers in each league and the top closing pitcher.
Wheeler, Box-Toppers Player of the Year for 2024, led all players with 21.4 Box-Toppers points. The three other starting pitchers on Box-Toppers’ year-end NL All-Star team are:
Dylan Cease of the Padres, 21.1 Box-Toppers points, second among NL pitchers, third overall.
Shota Imanaga of the Cubs, 20.7 points, third among NL pitchers, fourth overall.
Chris Sale of the Braves, 19.1 points, fourth among NL pitchers, fifth overall. (Sale was winner of the 2024 NL Cy Young Award, while Box-Toppers leader Wheeler finished second among NL pitchers in voting.)
In the first half of the season, Wheeler led players briefly for two days:
On May 6 when he had 6.7 Box-Toppers points, until he was passed May 7 by Imanaga with 7.7 points.
On May 17 when he had 7.7 Box-Toppers points, until he was passed May 18 by Imanaga with 8.7 points.

(Cease led NL pitchers at the All-Star break while Wheeler ranked third.)
Wheeler took the overall lead again on Aug. 31 with 18.4 Box-Toppers points. He lost the lead for two days on Sept. 4, when Imanaga passed him with 18.7 points but regained the lead Sept. 6 for the remainder of the season with 19.4 points, earning 2.0 more points by the end of the season, Sept. 30.

About Box-Toppers
Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
