Phillies pitcher Spencer Turnbull is Friday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day, rising to ninth place in season player rankings.
Also Friday, Brewers pitcher Freddy Peralta extended his lead in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors.
Player of the Day
Turnbull struck out six over seven scoreless innings, allowing one hit and two walks, in the 7-0 win over the White Sox.
Turnbull carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning before giving up his only hit.
Turnbull earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 3.7 for the season, ninth among all players and fourth among National League pitchers.
While Turnbull is one of five players currently with 3.7 Box-Toppers points, he ranks fourth among them based on his 2023 Box-Toppers point total (1.0). Orioles pitcher Corbin Burnes leads the five players at 3.7 points with 11.7 points in 2023. He ranks sixth overall.
American League Player of the Day
Red Sox pitcher Brayan Bello struck out seven over six scoreless innings, allowing one hit and two walks, in the 8-1 win over the Pirates.
Bello earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 2.7 for the season, 15th among AL pitchers.
While Bello and Turnbull both had a +10.0 Box-Toppers game scores Friday, Turnbull won overall Player of the Day honors over Bello because he had more innings pitched—seven vs. six.
National League Batter of the Day
Travis d'Arnaud of the Braves hit three home runs, including a grand slam, and went 3-for-4, scoring three times and driving in six runs, in the 8-3 win over the Rangers.
American League Batter of the Day
Chas McCormick of the Astros hit a sacrifice fly and went 2-for-3, scoring once and driving in two runs, in the 5-3 win over the Nationals.
