Phillies lead
Phillies players have accumulated 64.8 Box-Toppers points this season, picking up 3.0 points in the past week. They lead over the second-place Yankees (62.6 points) by 2.2 points. The Phillies lead National League teams ahead of the second-place Los Angeles Dodgers (fourth place overall with 57.5 points).
The Phillies have baseball’s second-best winning percentage (.6222) behind the Yankees (.6623) and tied with the Baltimore Orioles (.6222). (The Yankees have played two more games than both the Phillies and Orioles and lead by just .0001.) The Orioles are third in Box-Toppers team rankings with 60.9 Box-Toppers points, picking up 5.5 in the past week.
The Phillies are led by pitcher Zack Wheeler (9.7 points, fourth overall and second among NL pitchers). Phillies top batter is Bryce Harper (5.2 points, third among NL batters). Sixteen different Phillies players have earned Box-Toppers points so far in 2024.
Yankees lead AL teams
The New York Yankees lead AL teams in Box-Toppers rankings for the sixth straight week with 62.6 points, picking up 3.7 in the past week, holding steady in second place overall.
The Yankees picked up 2.7 points winning two of their six games this week and picked up 1.0 point by signing reliever Tim Hill, who had earned 1.0 point with the White Sox this season before being released.
The Yankees rank ahead of the second-place AL team, the Baltimore Orioles (third place overall with 60.9 points).
The Yankees have baseball’s best winning percentage (.6623) and are led by pitcher Luis Gil (13.4 points, first overall). Yankees top batter is Aaron Judge (8.5 points, first among AL batters). Eighteen different Yankees players have earned Box-Toppers points so far in 2024.
Hottest team: Nationals
The Washington Nationals are the week’s hottest team, picking up 7.5 points in the past week, most among all teams, rising from 18th to 13th place in season player rankings. Their five-spot rise is biggest among all teams.
This is the fourth straight week the Nationals have been among either the biggest risers or decliners in Box-Toppers team rankings. Three weeks ago, they had the biggest jump in rankings (from 22nd to 16th), two weeks ago, they had the biggest fall (from 16th to 23rd) and last week they were tied for the biggest rise (from 23rd to 18th).
Biggest fall: Rangers
The Texas Rangers had the biggest decline in rankings, falling six spots from 17th to 23rd with 39.0 points, picking up 1.0 point in the past week.
Last place: White Sox
The Chicago White Sox remain in 30th and last place for the fourth week with 25.1 Box-Toppers points, picking up 2.0 points in the past week.
