Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow is Saturday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day, rising to third place in season player rankings.
Also Saturday, two other players rise in Box-Toppers season player rankings top 10 list after both earn Player of the Game honors: Phillies pitcher Zack Wheeler rises to second place (and first among National League pitchers) and Mariners pitcher Logan Gilbert rises to sixth place.
Player of the Day
Glasnow struck out 10 over seven innings, allowing two runs, two hits and no walks, in the 7-2 win over the Angels.
Glasnow earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 10.7 for the season, third overall, behind Yankees pitcher Luis Gil (13.4 points) and Wheeler (10.7). (Though Wheeler and Glasnow both have 10.7 points, Wheeler ranks ahead because he has more 2023 points—14.7 vs. 12.7.) Glasnow ranks second among NL pitchers behind Wheeler.
Glasnow becomes the fifth player this season to reach 10 Box-Toppers points. It is his third season and second straight season with 10 or more points. His best season was 2021 with the Rays when he earned 12.7 points, eighth among AL pitchers. Interestingly, Glasnow earned all his points in the first half of that season due to undergoing season-ending elbow surgery in June. Glasnow had 12.4 points in 2023 with the Rays, 14th among AL pitchers.
American League Player of the Day
Twins pitcher Bailey Ober pitched a complete game, striking out 10 and allowing two runs, four hits and no walks, in the 10-2 win over the Athletics.
Ober earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being AL Player of the Day, giving him 6.7 for the season, 15th among AL pitchers.
National League Batter of the Day
Alec Burleson of the Cardinals hit two home runs, including a three-run shot, in the 9-4 win over the Giants. Burleson went 3-for-4, scoring three times and driving in five runs.
American League Batter of the Day
Chas McCormick of the Astros hit two home runs and went 3-for-3, scoring three times and driving in two runs, in the 5-1 win over the Orioles.

About Box-Toppers
Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
