Also Monday, Albert Pujols regains sixth place in career Box-Toppers points since 1995 (when Box-Toppers tracking began) after earning Player of the Game honors, passing Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw, who had passed him on the career chart on June 11.

Player of the Day—Sanchez pitched seven scoreless innings, striking out seven and allowing three hits and two walks, in the 4-2 win over the Padres.

National League Player of the Day—Phillies pitcher Jeremy Hellickson pitched six scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk, striking out one, in the 4-0 win over the Marlins. Hellickson did not earn the win, picking up a no decision, because he exited with the game tied, 0-0.

Hellickson earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, giving him 9.1 for the season, the most of any of the 10 who earned Player of the Game honors Monday. Hellickson ranks 21st among all players and 13th among NL pitchers.

Also Tuesday, Giants pitcher Johnny Cueto rises to second in Box-Toppers player rankings and White Sox pitcher Chris Sale rises to ninth after both earned Player of the Game honors.

Player of the Day—Kluber pitched a complete game shutout, striking out nine and allowing three hits and two walks, in the 6-0 win over the Rays.

Kluber earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 9.8 for the season, rising to seventh among all players in season rankings. Kluber also passes teammate Danny Salazar (8.8 points) to take the season points lead among AL pitchers.

National League Player of the Day—Giants pitcher Johnny Cueto allowed one run over 6 2/3 innings, striking out six and allowing four hits and one walk, in the 15-4 win over the Pirates.

Cueto earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, giving him 11.7 for the season and rising to second in season player rankings. Cueto still trails overall leader, Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw (20.0) by a significant 8.3-point margin.

American League Batter of the Day—Kurt Suzuki of the Twins homered and hit two doubles, going 4-for-5, scoring twice and driving in six runs, in the 14-10 win over the Phillies.

Blue Jays' Rowdy Tellez (3R HR) tops players for Tuesday, March 31's spring games

Cards' Shelby Miller pitches shutout, tops players for Saturday, June 7

Bumgarner, Moore top players for Saturday, July 6, both rise in Box-Toppers Top 10 player list

Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner is Saturday's Player of the Day and rises to eighth place among players in Box-Toppers points for the season.
