Giants’ Gausman tops players for Sunday, Sept. 26; Rays‘ Baz tops AL players

Giants pitcher Kevin Gausman is Sunday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Gausman struck out 11 over six innings, allowing one run, three hits and no walks, in the 6-2 win over the Rockies. Gausman did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the Rockies tied the game after he exited.

Rookie of the Year: Short 2020 season limited opportunity to shine for newcomers

Kyle Lewis of the Mariners and Devin Williams of the Brewers were voted 2020 Rookies of the Year by baseball writers.

Neither were among Box-Toppers’ top-ranked rookies in 2020. Plus, none of Box-Toppers’ top-ranked rookies even received votes from baseball writers for top rookie.
