Royals pitcher Brady Singer is Sunday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.
Singer struck out 10 over seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits and one walk, in the 11-0 win over the Twins.
Singer earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 2.0 for the season. He’s one of seven players atop Box-Toppers season player rankings with 2.0 points. He ranks fourth overall since his 5.0 Box-Toppers points earned in 2023 is fourth among those seven players.
Singer’s 5.0 points in 2023 was 55th among American League pitchers.
National League Player of the Day
Ha-Seong Kim of the Padres hit a three-run homer, double and went 3-for-4, scoring three times and driving in three runs, in the 13-4 win over the Giants.
Kim earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, giving him 1.7 for the season, 11th among all players.
AL and NL Batters of the Day
There is no separate NL Batter of the Day for Sunday because the overall NL Player of the Day is batter Ha-Seong Kim. There is no AL Batter of the Day for Sunday because no AL batter earned Player of the Game honors.
Streak
Blue Jays pitcher Kevin Gausman has now earned Box-Toppers points in 12 consecutive seasons after earning his first Player of the Game honor of 2024 Sunday.
Gausman (4.1IP 2H R 0BB 6K ND in the 9-2 win over the Rays) earned his first Box-Toppers points in 2013 with the Orioles and now has 89.1 career points, sixth among active American League pitchers.
His best season was 2023 with the Blue Jays when he earned 18.7 points, fourth overall and third among AL pitchers, behind Chris Bassitt of the Blue Jays (20.1) and Shohei Ohtani of the Angels (19.4).
Debut
Two players made their Box-Toppers debut Sunday, both with their first career Player of the Game honors:
Brewers pitcher Bryan Hudson (3IP 2H 0R 0BB 4K ND in the 4-1 win over the Mets) made his Major League debut June 17, 2023, and was playing in his seventh career game.
Alika Williams of the Pirates (3B SAC 1-4 2R 2BI in the 9-7, 10-inning win over the Marlins) made his Major League debut July 25, 2023, and was playing in his 47th career game.

About Box-Toppers
Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
Box-Toppers strives for accuracy. See a mistake in a post? A wrong name, wrong team, grammar error, spelling goof, etc.? Thanks for pointing it out! Contact Box-Toppers here. Let's fix it and make it right.
