Notable

Two notable players earned their first Box-Toppers point of 2023 as both earned their first Player of the Game honor of the season Tuesday:

NEW: Inbox notification of each post!
  • Yankees pitcher Carlos Rodon (5IP 4H R 4BB 9K W in the 4-1 win over the Red Sox) earned 19.8 Box-Toppers points in 2022 with the Giants, sixth overall and third among NL pitchers. Rodon was out until midseason dealing with various injuries. This was his 11th appearance of the season.

  • Kris Bryant of the Rockies (HR 2-4 2R 3BI in the 6-4 win over the Cubs) earned 10.5 Box-Toppers points in 2016 with the Cubs, second among NL batters. Bryant’s time has been limited this season by a broken finger. But Bryant also hasn’t been a prolific Box-Toppers points scorer in recent seasons, earning 1.0 point in three of the past four seasons, including 2023. He now has 4.5 points since being traded from the Cubs in 2021, a team for whom he earned 34.0 points from 2015 to 2021.

  • Woo earns 1.7 points for being AL Player of the Day.

  • Freeman and Perez each earn 1.5 points for being their league’s Batter of the Day.

About Box-Toppers

Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.

Box-Toppers strives for accuracy. See a mistake in a post? A wrong name, wrong team, grammar error, spelling goof, etc.? Thanks for pointing it out! Contact Box-Toppers here. Let's fix it and make it right.
