Mets’ Peterson tops players in unfinished, rain-suspended game against Marlins

A belated note: Mets pitcher David Peterson was Box-Toppers Player of the Game in the uncompleted, rain-suspended Sept. 28 game between the Marlins and Mets.

Major League Baseball ruled in early October that the Mets were winners in the game, even though the Marlins led 2-1 when it was suspended in the top of the ninth inning.

Athletics pitcher Frankie Montas is Sunday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day on the final day of the regular season.

Montas struck out 13 over six innings, allowing two runs (none earned), four hits and two walks, in the 6-2 win over the Mariners. Montas did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the game was tied, 2-2, when he exited.
