Athletics pitcher Cole Irvin is Wednesday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Also Wednesday, Rays pitcher Shane McClanahan rises to seventh place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors.

Player of the Day—Irvin struck out 11 over seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits and one walk, in the 3-2, 10-inning win over the Marlins. Irvin did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the Marlins tied the game after he exited.

Irvin earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 6.7 for the season, 77th among all players and 32nd among American League pitchers.

National League Player of the Day—Braves pitcher Kyle Wright struck out eight over seven scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk, in the 14-2 win over the Pirates.

Wright earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, giving him 11.4 for the season, 20th among all players and 12th among NL pitchers.

Wright becomes the 31st player this season to reach 10.0 Box-Toppers points. It is his first season with 10.0 or more points. His previous best season was 2020 with the Braves, when he earned 1.0 Box-Toppers point.

McClanahan (6IP 4H 0R BB 9K ND in the 4-3, 11-inning win over the Angels) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 15.4 for the season. He ranks fourth among AL pitchers.
