Also Tuesday, Astros pitcher Justin Verlander rises to fifth place on Box-Toppers “all-time” career points list, passing Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia, after earning AL Player of the Day honors. Verlander also becomes the second player this season to reach 25 Box-Toppers points (26.5), maintaining his second-place spot in Box-Toppers season player rankings.

Astros pitcher Justin Verlander maintains the lead in Box-Toppers weekly team rankings report for the 14th straight week.
However, teammate Gerrit Cole has caught up to Verlander this week in total Box-Toppers points for the season (20.8). But Verlander still ranks ahead on a tiebreaker because he has more 2018 Box-Toppers points—24.1 vs. 18.0.

The New York Yankees are the top-ranked team in Box-Toppers’ 2019 preseason rankings, rising from second place at the end of the 2018 season.
The 2018 World Series-champion Boston Red Sox fall from first at the end of last season to second place in the 2019 preseason rankings.
Meanwhile, the Cincinnati Reds made the biggest offseason improvement in players’ accumulated Box-Toppers points, while the Arizona Diamondbacks had the biggest decline.

Marquez did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the game was tied when he exited. The Rockies scored eight runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to take the lead.
